A Driver’s Health Is More Important than Racing
News broke this evening that Dale
Earnhardt Jr. will miss this weekend race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
because he was diagnosed with concussion like symptoms. He was not feeling well the whole week at
Kentucky Speedway. He made a trip to his
family doctor to see what is going on.
His family doctor thought he had severe allergies and a sinus infection,
so he was given medication to treat the severe allergies and a sinus infection. The medication did not help so he went to a
neurological specialist since he does have a history of concussions. The specialist concluded that it is best for
Dale Jr. to miss this weekend race at NHMS.
There is no timetable really on when
Dale Jr. will get back into the car. But
his health is so much more important than racing right now. Dale Jr. had suffered 2 hard wrecks in the
last few weeks at Michigan International Speedway and Daytona International
Speedway. It is very understandable for
him to develop the concussion like symptoms.
He needs to sit this race out.
What does this means in Dale Jr.
trying to make the Chase? He is 13th
in the drivers’ standings. Honestly, I
don’t really care about where he is at in the standings. Who cares?
Some of these NASCAR fans have to realize that racing isn’t important
over a driver’s health. Some of these
idiotic fans have to realize that a brain is not something you mess with. Some of these fans need to realize that a
human life is more important when it comes to racing. It is not always about them. Some of these fans do not have a heart at
all. The things they say to tear down a
driver when they talk about safety in the sport is so ridiculous.
When I talk about some fans, I’m
talking about the ones who enjoy watching the big crashes in the sport and they
think those are more exciting than the racing.
Those are the fans that get mad when there are no cautions in the race
because there were no wrecks. I’m
talking about the fans who do not value a drivers’ life. I’m so tired of hearing that stupid comment
from those fans, “The drivers knew what they were getting into when they are
racing in this sport.” Those fans who
always make excuses to want to justify the crashes. The fans that care about the crashes more
than the drivers are the problem.
I am the fan who watches the races
to see them race and not crash. I do not
want to see a driver get hurt, get a concussion, or lose their life. It isn’t fun watching those types of events
happen in any type of racing. Dale Jr.
is one of my favorite drivers that I like to root for every weekend. I rather for him to take care of his health
than to risk it by racing this weekend and getting in another possible crash to
make it worse. I’m so glad and thankful
that Jeff Gordon isn’t racing anymore. I
love watching racing to an extent, but I care about the drivers’ health and
life even more. I hope Dale Jr. Get well
soon.
