The Younger Drivers Take the Wins Tonight in the Can-Am Duels
Tonight the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series had 2 Can-Am Duels with different results, but with a younger driver winning them both. I bet Kyle Busch did not like that. The reason I say that is because Busch did not like NASCAR promoting the younger drivers of the sport. Oh well!!! I guess this round goes to the younger drivers.
Ryan Blaney in a Ford won the first duel for Penske Racing, while Chase Elliot in a Chevrolet won the second duel for Hendrick Motorsports. Both duels may have been different, but they both ended the same. They both were pretty exciting. Both duels had a close finished from first to fifth.
The first duel had 5 drivers with damage cars that will cause them to go to a backup for the Daytona 500 race. Jimmie Johnson, Aric Almirola, William Byron, David Gilliland, and Brad Keselowski will have to go to a backup car for the Daytona 500 on Sunday. JJ had a tire to go down to cause him to wreck and to take out Almirola. Byron and Gilliland got sucked around by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. because he wanted to drive aggressively. I guess Stenhouse thought it was all right to do that. Gilliland did call him an idiot. I think an ass (sorry) is more like it. Keselowski wrecked because of a misjudgment. The closing rate was much closer than he thought. At least he did apologize for hitting Jamie McMurray.
The second duel only had 2 drivers with damage cars that will more than likely have them going to backup cars for the Daytona 500. Chase Elliott sort of done the same thing to Eric Jones just like what Stenhouse did in the first duel. Elliott was trying to go by Jones, but he sucked Jones around causing Matt Benedetto and Kyle Larson to get caught in that wreck. Luckily, Jones did not have any serious damage to his car.
The second duel had double file racing, but the first duel had single file racing through most of the race. The second race was more exciting. It is a good thing that there wasn’t anyone in that second duel acting like Stenhouse. There was no reason to be that aggressive at all. I wonder was he just showing off because Aaron Rodgers was there in Danica Patrick’s pit stall. I know Stenhouse can be aggressive sometimes, but not this aggressive.
After the finish of the second duel, the Daytona 500 grid is set. I would list all 40 starting positions, but that is too much for me to type. If you would like to see the starting lineup, you can go to www.nascar.com to see where your favorite driver will be starting. It really doesn’t matter where they start because they could win from any position on this type of track.
I’m done!!! I guess until next time. I hope sooner than later.
