I Have a Problem with the #18 Penalty
On Wednesday, NASCAR handed down the
penalty to the #18 team for violated the lugnut rule. Kyle Busch’s crew chief Adam Stevens and the front
tire changer are suspended from the Dover race this coming up weekend. Stevens has been fined $20,000 and put on
probation until December 31.
The problem that I have with this
penalty is the bonus points for the win that will go towards the Chase or the
first round of the playoff system. Why weren’t
the bonus points from the win taken from him?
I thought if you get penalize for something like this that the bonus
points would not count for the Chase.
The team already got away with
damaging the car during the burnout. As
a fan, I am not stupid. If you won as
much as you have, you should know how to not damage the car during the
burnout. In my eyes, it is showing that
you got something to hide. I hope NASCAR
will keep an eye on this better this year.
If Busch wins again and does the same thing again, NASCAR better not
turn a blind eye like they did on Sunday.
So, I am going to let this pass this time, but I still have my
doubts. We will see how they race these
next few weekends and what happen during post-race inspections.
I wonder will NASCAR keep an eye on
the #18 team for now on. They have done
it before. They kept an eye on Jimmie
Johnson when they have failed post-race inspection in the past. They should do the same thing to the #18
team. I’m not saying this because I have
something against the #18 team. I am
saying that they should do what is fair.
If you do it to one time, you do it to everyone who gets caught cheating
or breaking the rules.
