The Drivers to Watch Out for in the Martinsville Race - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
I
watched both Sprint Cup practices today. I do not really care about the
first practice this morning. They are not going to be racing in those
conditions. The second practice will be close to the conditions they will
start in. When I look at drivers who are going to be good in the race, I
would look at their laps in practice. I do not care about there one fast
lap. I look at their best 5 consecutive lap average or their best 10
consecutive lap average. Since Martinsville is a short track, I would rather
look at their 10 consecutive lap average than their 5 because 5 laps are not anything
at a short track. 5 laps is not a lot to look at on a track like
Martinsville. 38 out of 40 drivers did a 10 consecutive lap run.
That is good enough to get an estimate on whom to look out for in the
race on tomorrow. The drivers that was in the top 10 in the 10
consecutive lap average is Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr., Brian
Vickers, Kyle Busch, A.J. Allmendinger, Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray, rookie
Ryan Blaney, and Greg Biffle. The drivers that I would look out more for
are definitely Johnson and Hamlin since they have multiple wins at the
track. I would also look out for Larson,
Truex, and Vickers. There lap times look
pretty good. Those are the five drivers
I would look out for on tomorrow. Somebody
may ask, what about the pole sitter Joey Logano. Well, his time did not look too good compared
to the drivers who ran the best 10 consecutive lap average. Logano was 16th, so I don’t know
about that unless tomorrow is a better day for him. I can say the same for Kasey Kahne. Kahne was 20th in the best 10
consecutive lap average. I think Kahne
could be a sleeper. I think things will
be better for him tomorrow. I think anybody
who was running in the top 10 in the 10 best consecutive lap average should be
the drivers to look out for, but you never know what could happen on
Sunday. Things do change from one day to
the next. Sometime you can never go by
practice, but most of the time you can especially for a track like Martinsville.
